6 Nights and 7 Days at the Beach + Night Fishing for Rockfish (without Boat)

The host was very kind and attentive, so I had no inconveniences during my stay. The accommodations were somewhat rustic, but the amenities were meticulously installed and well-maintained, allowing me to experience the warmth of the ondol (Korean traditional underfloor heating) floors, a reminiscent of the countryside. The location was close to the ocean and offered easy access to fishing spots in the southeastern part of Namhae. Conclusion: Satisfied. If I ever have another chance to travel like this, I'd love to return.

One day, my husband casually suggested we move down to Namhae and live there. With both of us having to take a break from our busy jobs, I realized this would be the perfect opportunity to experience Namhae. So, I started researching accommodations available in Namhae on Livewear, which my friends had recommended. It was a small inn in a quiet fishing village that caught my eye. My husband, a passionate fisherman, seemed like the perfect fit. When I think back on that dreamlike week there, the first thing that comes to mind is the kind hospitality of the owner. Throughout our delicious meals, the main dish was the fish he shared. Another time, because the boat was leaving for Nodo Island, I had to leave the washing machine running in the morning. When I returned late, I was deeply touched by the owner's thoughtful consideration, which was reflected in the neatly dried laundry in the kitchen. And thanks to the owner personally taking me out to the breakwater and teaching me everything about rockfish fishing, I was able to enjoy a whole week of rockfish fishing, which I had never tried before. The second thing that comes to mind is the week of happiness we shared together. In our 28 years of marriage, living as a weekend couple, we'd never spent a full week together, including weekdays. So, that week, spent in a small kitchen and a single room with a distant ocean view, cooking and chatting like we were playing house, felt so exciting and precious, like a trip back to our honeymoon days. The last memory I have of our accommodations is the sheer number of places we could visit. Of all the places we visited, the Namhae Pine Forest Recreational Forest was the best (it was fantastic when it rained). I'll never forget the Ayinger beer at German Village. Hiking in Geumsan was also a joy, and I'll never forget the smell of the sea as I cast my line in the ocean every day (Yanghwageum Breakwater, Mulgeon Breakwater, Nogu Breakwater, Hangdo Mongdol Beach, Mijo Port, etc.). This accommodation is located in a small fishing village called Eunjeom Village, so there are some drawbacks: nowhere is open after 8 p.m. (a convenience store is a minute or two away by car). It's not a detached house (the main house faces the main building across a yard), so it's not completely private. However, it's the perfect place for those who want to live in a quiet fishing village and enjoy some fishing. (Fishing rods are available for free rental, but I eventually brought my own because the float rod didn't fit my hand. If you have a rod, I recommend bringing your own.) Whenever I return to Seoul and place grilled fish on the table, I'll be reminded of the owner's generous hospitality from Namhae and the vibrant life of the fish fluttering on my fishing rod. I'll never forget my week in Namhae. If I ever get the chance, I'll definitely return.

I absolutely love fishing! So I frequently visit places like Tongyeong, Yeosu, Namhae, and the East Sea. I've lived around Namhae Bay three times, stayed for a month twice, and have been on countless overnight trips. This time, my wife picked "Bolrak Night Fishing" on the Eunjeom Breakwater in Samdong-myeon, Namhae, for a country vacation in Namhae. As the name suggests, the owner, who is passionate about rockfish, gave off a blunt, almost unassuming vibe, much like other reviews. However, as time went by, I began to see a different side to my initial impression. He was so concerned about his guests' well-being that he provided them with various sashimi and anchovy sauce, making us feel like we were getting a lot out of it. I don't fish for rockfish, so I can't write a review, but I promised my wife I'd go back again next time, and we'll do it again. Haha. I'll definitely try rockfish next time. Now, let me write down my daily routine. ● Dawn Fishing 5:00 AM - 8:00 AM Primarily exploring reefs, walking spots, and hiking trails I've always wanted to visit. ● Lunch Fishing 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Catching octopus as quickly as possible from a location with a large enough catch for the next day's meal. ● Evening Fishing 5:00 PM - 12:00 AM My wife and dog are always with me, so this is the longest fishing time of the day. But on the other hand, I can barely fish for an hour. It's hard enough to be there for my wife, setting up the line, adding shrimp, and removing the fish. And you know what? When my wife and dog join me, there needs to be a 24-hour bathroom, good footing, and good fishing! I've always succeeded in doing all of these, and I'm so happy! Namhae has so many of them! I've also gone on trips to explore delicious restaurants, take walks, and see the sights. I followed the above routine, and my octopus fishing trip in mid-August 2025 was a success. This is my third spring after retirement, I decided on Namhae as my spring travel destination. As always, the biggest concern is finding a place to stay. I agonized over two final candidate sites at Live Anywhere. A detached house with a lawn and a view of the ocean, and a place where I can experience rockfish fishing for free every day, although it might be a little inconvenient~~ A detached house with a view of the ocean while enjoying rockfish fishing for free would be perfect, but I have come to realize that life cannot only have good things. The anticipation and excitement of the daily rockfish fishing for free experience strongly drew me in. The owner I met on the first day was blunt, as someone wrote in a review. And I was surprised that he was younger than I thought. He casually handed me a bundle of hairtail, saying, "Eat it while you stay." It was lacking in thickness and size compared to the hairtail I usually eat, but it was far superior in taste. The reason my picky husband gave it a thumbs up was probably because of its freshness. Another day, I received a call telling me to come out to the yard, and when I went out, he was cleaning freshly caught mackerel. I followed him to the kitchen and came out holding a plate of mackerel salad mixed with humming and humor, and a grilled fish with salt sprinkled on it. It was more delicious than the anchovy salad I had at a famous restaurant. Instead of the bluntness of the first day, I think he was really humming and humorous. Maybe he was nervous about new customers like me. The kitchen was separate, so it was a little inconvenient, but it was very neatly organized, and disposable towels, tissues, and trash cans were conveniently placed. His consideration and neatness stood out. The weather didn't cooperate during my trip, so I couldn't experience the rockfish every day. It was windy and cold, so I gave up. When I looked at the reviews later, the young people who participated in the experience together seemed to have done it all, and it seemed relatively successful. It's a shame that everything requires waiting, so it's a shame. At an age where ordinary daily life feels like gratitude, I traveled without being rushed by a schedule, walking leisurely, chatting, and stopping to have a cup of tea whenever I wanted. Thank you. This summer, with the sole purpose of seeing the ocean, I stayed for a week at a guesthouse in Namhae, Gyeongsangnam-do. I even brought my 15-month-old child and my dog with me. What's special about this place is that you can fish for rockfish right in front of you without even having to get on a boat! It was so much fun that I looked forward to every evening, and most of all, spending time feeling the ocean breeze was truly healing. Can you fish for rockfish without a boat?! You can fish for rockfish from the nearby breakwater without even getting on a boat. Even I felt my stress melt away every evening as I enjoyed the delicious catch. 👉 No gear required. 👉 Even if it's your first time fishing, it's okay. All the gear is provided at the guesthouse, and you can use live freshwater shrimp as bait, and there are fishing lights and cami lights. Oh, and the owner also offers night rockfish fishing experiences, so he'll teach you how to fish for rockfish. 📍Location & Accommodation The guesthouse is located in a quiet seaside village, so it's quiet and peaceful. The accommodations were clean and had all the basic necessities. From pots to various seasonings and rice, all you need is a pot. The kitchen was well-equipped, so it was fun to cook and eat the rockfish you caught yourself. The host's generosity was truly impressive! Every morning, they brought us fresh fish from the boat, including huge anago, pollack, and gizzard shad. We were able to enjoy sashimi to our heart's content. We were able to create a table filled with the scent of the ocean every day. During the day, we took walks along the beach with our baby and dog, explored Namhae, and at night, we finished the day fishing for rockfish. It's been a week already~ My husband quit his job of over 20 years and said he wanted to have a new hobby, so he started fishing, which was something my father used to do, and I got my father's fishing rod and went fishing a little bit in Gangwon-do, but I didn't feel like I had any fun and I didn't know how to do it, so I happened to see a review on an app and saw a review that said the owner taught me how to fish and even lent me a fishing rod for free, so I made a reservation. My daughter's vacation was coming to an end and I was working from home, so I was looking at a two-room house. This guesthouse had separate doors for each room, so it was perfect for us~ The kitchen also had separate doors, so there was no smell, and there were cooking oil, milk, red pepper powder, sugar, salt, rice, and grains in the refrigerator~ I lived here for a week and used it well without any shortages~ There was a water purifier in the kitchen, so I didn't have to buy bottled water, and I put water in a bottle and stored it in the refrigerator to drink it cold~ There was a port in front of the accommodation, so I went for a walk and tried fishing in the evening after work, but I couldn't catch anything, so I ended up getting some lessons from the owner and was able to go fishing~ He taught me how to fish, gave me points, and taught me how to clean it, so it was a very useful week~ The room was so warm that I slept on a camp bed the first day, but from the next day, I slept while taking a steam bath on the floor~ I had a really good week. In particular, I will never forget the stone flower that the boss gave me~ It was so delicious~ I was supposed to check out on March 1st, but I had to leave right after work on the 28th because of the master's wedding, so that was a bit disappointing, but it was good~ On the way up, I stopped by the German Village and had dinner~ That was also really good~ I hope the boss stays healthy and prospers~ I'll visit again next time I have the chance~

My husband had to retire early because he had to close the store due to sudden shoulder surgery. I wanted to spend the cold winter warmly, so I decided on Namhae as my destination and made a reservation with reasonable conditions, and the cost-effectiveness was "great". Including utility bills and cleaning fees, all necessary fishing tools (chair, bait, gloves, and freshwater) were provided, and the cooking tools, basic seasoning, and setting were more comfortable than at my house, so the owner's sense was outstanding. The welcome party(?), not the welcome drink, was also the owner's sense!!! Above all, Namhae has many houses located on cliffs and steep and narrow alleys, so you have to drive carefully if you want to come in at night, but here, there is a large parking lot on the main street, so you can move safely. They also gave us all the necessary information for living, and thanks to them, we watched three movies on the first day of release at a cheap price (7,000 won). Our favorite sauna was also 4,000 won. I was so satisfied that I wanted to stay for a year, not a month. The room and kitchen are separated, so there is no bad smell in the room even if you grill meat or fish, and it is small, but it is nice to be able to see the sparkling sea and sunrise beyond the window. You can enjoy fishing at all the breakwaters along our village line, and there are also good restaurants. I feel like I have been living so busy that I didn't know when the month would pass. My husband and I are planning to live around the country for a month, and I should come here again after going around once. That time, I should go fishing to my heart's content in the summer, not in the winter. ㅎ Thanks to the owner who checks frequently to see if there are any inconveniences, I can eat well and have fun. ^^

On the day of my 6-night, 7-day trip to Namhae, full of excitement, I met the owner for the first time and the moment I saw the room and kitchen where we would stay, wow!! It was so clean, well-managed everywhere, comfortable to use, and I was so satisfied that I thought I would be able to stay well~ㅎㅎ I stayed for a week with that feeling and returned to my daily life with a regretful heart wanting to stay longer. Although there were some inconveniences because the room and kitchen were separate, there were more advantages. I was surprised to see that * and ** basic ** were prepared!! I ate really well for a week and went. The first day, it was rainy, cold and tiring, but since it was ondol, I woke up feeling really refreshed and it was so nice~ I rarely traveled with my husband without the kids, but I brought my youngest (12-year-old poodle) with me and made up my mind to go on a fishing trip. My husband was very satisfied. We just ate, fished, slept, and repeated that. But it was a routine that he never got tired of. The accommodations, German Village, Daejipo Village, Mulgeum Village, Hangdo Village, Yanghwageum Village, and Mijo Port were all close by, so I went fishing whenever I had time, visited good restaurants, and was happy to often eat grilled pollack sashimi that I caught myself. It’s no secret that the grilled hairtail that the owner gave me was so delicious that I had a refill!!ㅎㅎ He said that hairtail was caught at this time of year and bought it himself to let me try the sashimi. He also gave me anchovies. The owner’s kindness was amazing!!!! Thank you so much ^^ I definitely want to bring my son back when he gets his military leave.
