Remodeling a country house to achieve comfort

My first thoughts about living in the countryside were in September 2025. It was around the time we were talking a lot about what kind of house we would live in. I must have been exhausted from everyday life. Then, my husband suggested living in the countryside and said he'd found a house that would be just right. Time passed and, as 2026 approached, it finally arrived. That day, living in the countryside. Actually, my husband did all the preparations, and the three of us went, without much expectation, feeling like I was going camping. But the moment we arrived at the small house in Geumsa-ri, Jeolgol Village, the blue sky, the air, the trees, the wild grass, and the cats were waiting for us. After unpacking, I took photos of every nook and cranny of the house. The luxurious embroidered cushions gave a sense of comfort, and the owner's thoughtful curtains, the sky and trees visible through the small windows, and the soft lighting added to the atmosphere. First, I took photos in the yard to showcase my country life. With a guitar and a very large oil painting board,^^ We took turns preparing meals: pork belly, pork neck, thinly sliced pork belly, boiled pork, hotteok, French toast, soft tofu stew, soybean paste stew, bean sprout rice, egg rolls, potato soup, etc. For the dishes, we played a fair game of ladder climbing and rock-paper-scissors. I always got caught doing it, so I did most of it. Haha I drew, played the guitar, and read a lot. The owner's tastes matched mine, so it was filled with my favorite books. I couldn't read everything related to Tasha Tutor gardening, travel, interior design, mindfulness, and records. But because of the rule that anyone in the family was fined for using their cell phones, we all had no choice but to read. Even my son, who hadn't read a single book in a year, surprisingly read two while living in the countryside. My husband, too, searched through books that suited his tastes and kept reading. I wrote a letter to my family in advance during a quiet moment. I read it to them on the drive home today. It was a tearjerker, but they have a different sensibility than I do. LOL My husband made a kite, climbed a zelkova tree, and flew it. He also played with pine nuts and stone chips. The cats played with him, making it a truly blissful moment. We took a quiet walk around the small, quiet village of 35 households and explored it. We brought a very large oil painting board, and on the fifth and final day, we devoted all our energy to completing the painting. We chatted a lot while painting, encouraging each other's strengths and filling in where we were lacking. I decided to explore the nearby Jeongnimsa Temple site and Buyeo Market, and bought a warm knitwear at an unmanned clothing store. I... I'm actually afraid of cats. If there were cats in the countryside, I wouldn't have come. But during the six nights and seven days, I met Wadeuk, Kkobal, Geumdong, Eundong, Dongdong... and Kkobal's two kittens, Thumb, Gongju (named by me), and even Tan... . They didn't get very close, but they still managed to close the distance, and the whole family applauded. While preparing dinner, I thought of the cat, and looked outside, would Tan come and bother me if I meowed at night? And finally, I saw him catch a mouse and put it on the lawn as a gift. And unlike our first encounter, which had been so wary of our family, he sat on my lap. Did he know I was leaving today? I felt a pang in my heart. Hello, kitties!! I don't know when we'll meet again, but stay healthy! Be happy. Our family's country life is over, but it will remain in our hearts forever. I love the little house in Geumsa-ri, Jeolgol Village. ❤️

Three adult women, my first-grade son, and my 27-month-old nephew stayed for 8 nights and 9 days, totaling 5 people. We arrived early and stopped by briefly to check the house location before going to the mart, and it was truly beautiful. The moment we opened the door and stepped inside, we were completely captivated by a view far more stunning than the photos. After greeting the host couple who were cleaning and checking out the market (since the local marts are closed on weekends, we only shopped at convenience stores and Daiso), we returned to the house, unpacked our luggage, and explored every corner. It was truly no less than the countryside home I had envisioned—in fact, it was even prettier than expected, so everyone remained excited for quite some time. Each morning, we would wake up and start our leisurely day gazing at the sky, green trees, and grass visible through the large windows. We collected insects with the children, walked around the neighborhood, greeted neighbors we met along the way, and felt the warmth of the countryside that remains unchanged. During our stay, the hosts shared many things with us including corn, steamed squid, pumpkin leaves, and fruits. It truly felt like we spent each day healing and enjoying ourselves. After checkout, there was a minor issue with utility bills, but it was quickly resolved and we received a full refund of our deposit. This is definitely a place I want to stay at again for a longer period.

At first, the two of us came for a quiet getaway, but when our friends joined us, the four of us gathered in the cozy country house, sharing a time filled with endless laughter. The warmth of the space itself brought comfort to our hearts just by being together. I was a little worried when I heard it was cold outside, but those worries were unfounded: the interior was cozy and warm. The bedding was especially clean and fragrant, feeling like it gently embraced the day's fatigue. The kitchenette was fully equipped, so we just bought the ingredients and cooked for ourselves. The food and laughter we made together made us feel stronger, both physically and mentally. I gained a little weight, but even that was a happy memory. 😊 The six cats, and even the feral cats watching us quietly through the window... their very presence was a great comfort. Those moments of silent gazing were truly healing. I wanted to stay longer, but I had to turn back because of my next schedule, which was a shame. It was a precious time, a chance to take a break from my tiring daily life and catch my breath. With the energy I gained here, I feel I can get through this year as well. I definitely want to return.

머리를 식힐 겸 일주일 살기 숙소를 알아보던 중, 이 집이 마음에 들었고 그렇게 여행지가 부여로 정해지게 되었습니다. 도착해보니 예상보다 아기자기 잘 정돈된 아담한 마을에 제일 눈에 띄는 곳이 숙소더군요. 돌담너머 보이는 나무, 꽃들도 너무 예뻐 사진 한 가득 찍게 되는 곳입니다. 말씀드린 체크인 시간보다 일찍 도착해버려 호스트 분과 마주치게 되었는데 집과 꼭 닮은 분 같았습니다. 마당의 꽃도 아기자기한 텃밭도, 때가 되면 찾아오는 고양이들도. 마음 편히 푹 쉬며 힐링하기 좋은 환경이었네요. 고양이에 관한 리뷰가 많아 미리 남편이 이것저것 간식을 챙겨가서 열심히 간식 챙겨주며 고양이들과 대화(?)를 나누며 친해지기도 했네요ㅎㅎ숙소에서 푹 쉬기만 하자고 했던 계획과 달리 부여에 가볼 곳도 많고 그냥 머물다만 가기 아쉬워 매일 외출해서 여기저기 눈에 많이 담기도 했습니다. 주방 별채도 너무 맘에 들었던 공간이라 열심히 요리도 잔뜩 해먹고 호스트님의 귀여운 식기도 빌려 써보고 오래 머물렀던 곳이었습니다. 덕분에 일주일 내내 행복하게 원없이 잘 쉬다 갑니다. 감사합니다!

Writing - I spent a wonderful week relaxing at a 100-year-old rural house in Buyeo. The old persimmon tree, rafters, and even the tin eaves made the house itself feel so charming and lovely. It happened to rain for two days, and it was wonderful to rest leisurely while listening to the sound of rain under the eaves. We spent quality time grilling samgyeopsal with family under the pergola in the yard - simple yet full of romance. My 4-year-old granddaughter made a surprise visit, and she asked, "Grandma, can I run around here?" When I said, "Yes, you can run here," watching her excitedly run around the yard and rooms was so endearing. It was a time that will remain precious in all our family's memories. Feeling tired from city life, I found this place to be truly comforting and restorative. The host was also quick to respond and very kind, making our stay even more comfortable. I came away fully rejuvenated from this charming rural house. It's a place I want to visit again. 🌿🏡

I had a wonderful week at a well-organized accommodation in a quiet and clean neighborhood. The host's neat personality was evident throughout the space, and it was delightful to sit on the wooden floor and enjoy the view of the small garden. At first, I thought the kitchen being separate might be inconvenient, but there was something charming about the nostalgic feeling and the fun of going back and forth^^ The street lights were bright, so I didn't experience any inconvenience at all. A cat, the resident of the wooden floor, came by and showed affection, following me around. I had fun communicating with it through treats and cat food while waiting. The neighbors also greeted me warmly, and I had a very restful time in this quiet and clean neighborhood. I'll definitely come back to stay again next time. Thank you for providing such a clean accommodation^^

It was wonderful to stay in such a beautiful countryside house😊 Most things are well-equipped, so you really just need to bring yourself. The CU convenience store nearby (4 minutes by car) is really large and great! The house is so pretty that I didn't go out much, but there are many places to visit around the area and the location is excellent. I'll definitely come back again. The owner was very responsive to my calls, so I was able to relax and have a great week of rest. There's a cute vegetable garden in the back with Chinese chives, perilla leaves, green onions, and even mint!ㅎㅎ It's countryside in summer so there are many insects, but there weren't any inside the house, which was great! I'll be back👍

The host responded very quickly and kindly explained everything. When we arrived, it was exactly as described - a clean and beautifully renovated countryside house. The warmth of the traditional Korean ondol heating, refined interior design, and the garden's herbs and vegetable patch were all as expected. Just sitting in the kitchen pavilion, sipping tea while overlooking the garden was incredibly healing. We could feel that every detail was carefully maintained, and our family was very satisfied.

The host responded very quickly, making the entire process from booking to check-in incredibly smooth. In a quiet rural setting, I was able to enjoy both the warmth of the traditional Korean ondol heating system and modern amenities. It was a space where I could naturally heal while using the herbs from the garden and vegetables from the vegetable patch. Buyeo downtown, Baekje historical sites, and restaurants are all nearby, and the peaceful atmosphere of the surrounding neighborhood put my mind at ease. Every moment was precious.

It was an experience where time seemed to stand still for a week. It was a place where I could fully feel the charm of a rural village. Although it's unfortunate that I couldn't enjoy the yard and neighborhood due to the extreme heat, I think this is also part of the charm of traveling. Thanks to this, I had a good rest.
