Surroundings & additional info

It is located in a village, so nearby restaurants are within walking distance. The convenience store is 1.2 kilometers away, so you will need to go by car. The library, gym (swimming pool), market, supermarket, and hospital are accessible within a 10-minute drive. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes if you take the bus that comes every 10 to 20 minutes. Hyeopjae Beach and Gwakji Beach are also accessible within about 10 minutes by car. Hansupul The Don (Milmyeon, Pork, Doenjang Jjigae) is a 5-minute walk away. Suhyup/Nonghyup Marts, Hansupul Library, Seobu National Sports Center (Swimming Pool), and the sea are within a 10-minute drive. Hallym Port (where you board the ferry to Biyangdo) and numerous restaurants near Hallim Coastal Road are also within a 10-minute drive. Olle-gil Course 15 Geumoreum, Saebyeol Oreum, and Jeoji Oreum are nearby, and it is also close to Gwakji, Hyeopjae, and Geumneung Beaches, as well as Aewol Handam Beach. In addition, tourist attractions such as Biyangdo Island, Sanyang Gotjawal (Sanyangkeun-eonggot), Panpo Port, Jeju Cactus Village, and Osulloc Tea Museum are all within a 30-minute radius, making it a great place to tour western Jeju. Sorak is a space designed with the hope that guests can fully immerse themselves in Jeju's beautiful nature while enjoying the convenience and comfort of home. To realize this vision, we renovated and refined a 100-year-old stone-walled tile-roofed house—the only one in the neighborhood divided into an inner house and an outer house—transforming it into a modern yet sentimental space. We aimed to preserve the traditional feel of the exterior by leaving it untouched and applying only paint and varnish, while the interior was remodeled to consider modern convenience and aesthetics while maintaining the basic structure. The construction was handled by LG ZIN, a professional interior design company, who paid meticulous attention to materials and finishing processes. For the appliances and facilities, we have primarily used Samsung products (Samsung Multi-Cooker, Samsung TV, Samsung Air Conditioner, Samsung Washing Machine and Dryer, Samsung Bespoke Kitchen Fit Refrigerator). We have selected the top-selling items within each product category (bathroom ventilation fan with heating and cooling function, bidet, water purifier, electric rice cooker, Dyson vacuum cleaner, etc.) to create an overall luxurious yet understated atmosphere, selecting and arranging only the essentials. The headboard of the solid wood king-size bed features storage space, lighting, and a mobile phone charging jack. For the mattress, we chose an Italian Altrenotti product with the health and convenience of our guests in mind. We wanted to ensure that you would never have trouble sleeping due to the mattress. A detailed 50-page "Sorak User Manual" is available at the entrance, covering everything from how to use the house to information on nearby amenities, restaurants, and tourist attractions. With this comprehensive guide, you will be able to manage your stay in Jeju for about a month just like a local. Although Sorak is not a large house, we have divided the outdoor space into zones—such as the main garden, the garden visible from the living room, and the entrance garden—and cultivated flowers and trees in each area. I wanted guests to fully enjoy the entire home, including both the interior and exterior, even if only for a few days, and to bring nature into their hearts. The main garden, which faces south and receives plenty of sunlight, is equipped with a parasol, dining set, and a fire pit for bonfires. Additionally, a table set is prepared exclusively for guests under the eaves to provide shelter from the rain, ensuring a comfortable experience for outdoor activities. Near the entrance, there is a small vegetable garden tended by me, the host, so you might one day receive a surprise gift of organic produce like tomatoes, peppers, or pumpkins! However, please understand that since this is a rural area surrounded by forests and fields, we conduct periodic pest control, so you may not be completely free from insects. Please make sure to close the insect screens and doors during your stay, and make active use of the mosquito repellent provided both inside and outside the house. Also, since the people around us are elderly farmers, they go to bed early and wake up early. We ask that you refrain from talking in the yard or staring at the fire late at night to show respect for the locals' lifestyle.

Additional rules

Sorak is a space designed for you to live fully in your own home for a month. It is fully furnished with appliances and kitchenware, including a washer/dryer, refrigerator, water purifier, TV, microwave, air fryer, electric rice cooker, cutlery and dish sets, and two sets of bedding. However, personal hygiene items such as towels, shampoo, soap, and toilet paper are not provided. Please bring your own items or stop by Aewol Daiso or Hanaro Mart on your way from the airport to the accommodation to purchase them easily. Upon check-out, the rental fee will be deducted along with utility charges such as electricity and water. During your stay, you are responsible for home maintenance, washing bedding, and cleaning using the provided washer/dryer, vacuum cleaner, and other tools. Smoking is strictly prohibited indoors. Please be sure to observe the use of the outdoor tables and fire pits until 9 PM to ensure the sleep and rest of your neighbors. Additionally, as the property is located in a rural area surrounded by forests and fields, you may encounter insects. Although we are conducting pest control services under a contract with the professional pest control company 'Cesco,' insects such as mosquitoes may occasionally follow people into the front door during the humid rainy season or summer. Therefore, please exercise special caution when opening and closing doors and keep insect screens and windows tightly closed. If you discover any insects, please make good use of the mosquito coils, electric swatters, and sprays provided indoors.
