This house is a traditional Hanok belonging to a noble family from the southern region. The detached Sarangchae of this historic residence is provided for guests. The Sarangchae stretches in a straight line from north to south and consists of, starting from the south, the Daecheongmaru (1 bay), Keunsarangbang (2 bays), Living Room/Kitchen (1 bay), Bathroom (1 bay), Jungsarangbang (1.5 bays), and Jungsarang Maru (0.5 bays). The kitchen and bathroom underwent extensive interior renovations in 2023, transforming them into clean, modern spaces. Heating is provided via the traditional Gudeul Ondol system in the Keunsarangbang and an oil boiler Ondol system in the Jungsarangbang. (There are no beds; guests sleep on bedding laid out on the floor.) The Sarangchae living room features a dining table, while the Jungsarangbang has a desk with a chair, allowing for comfortable reading, writing, or computer use. There is a garden and a courtyard in front of the Sarangchae, and a spacious inner courtyard in front of the Anchae. Additionally, there are four smaller courtyards, and each courtyard of the Sarangchae and Anchae has its own garden. Outdoor charcoal barbecues are available in the yard, and the dirt floor is ideal for walking barefoot for health. The entire house is surrounded by an earthen stone wall. A small stream flows in front, and the ridge of Mt. Hwaak, marking the boundary between Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk provinces, rises high behind the house. The village comprises approximately 150 households; more than half are country homes, while the remainder consists of farmhouses and cultural heritage Hanoks (living quarters, pavilions, and ancestral halls). This historic house consists of four buildings. The Sarangchae is a private living space for guests, while the Anchae is a private space for the host; however, their respective yard spaces are separated, allowing for a peaceful stay without interference. However, guests are permitted to enter the host's space temporarily to use the shared washing machine, on a limited basis. There is parking space for approximately three cars next to the wall outside the main gate, allowing temporary visitors to park as well.

Surroundings & additional info
5 minutes by car from E-Mart 24, 10 minutes by car from TOP Mart, 15 minutes by car from Daiso, 15 minutes by car from hospital/pharmacy, 13 minutes by car from Miryang Intercity Bus Terminal, 20 minutes by car from Miryang KTX Station A traditional Hanok located in the heart of a clustered village 1. Scenery enjoyed from inside Soeun Gotaek: Borrowed scenery of Mt. Hwaak, the architectural beauty of the magnificent main house, starlight in the night sky and raindrops on rainy days, the interesting arrangement of buildings, the sentiment of the traditional fireplace and ondol, and the aesthetics of morning sunlight viewed through the fire-lit windows. 2. There are many things to do in the courtyard. Fire-gazing, barefoot walking, garden appreciation, outdoor barbecue, lighting the fire in the guest room fireplace, and traditional games such as marbles. 3. As this is not an artificially constructed building for accommodation purposes but a genuine old residential house where people continue to live, you can feel the traces of the lives of scholars from the late Joseon Dynasty. 4. It is an old house with a story. Stories of joy and sorrow spanning over 200 years—including the anti-Japanese educational movement and the woodblock printing of the Seongho Collection of Writings—as well as stories of the anguish and love for the people and nation of the Silhak (Practical Learning) leadership during the turbulent late Joseon period, remain throughout the house and the village. The Village Itself Is a Healing Place 5. You can experience healing by taking a walk along the long earthen stone wall that encircles the village. 6. The surroundings are very quiet and clean. The very topography of the village provides a healing atmosphere. With the foothills of Mt. Hwaak right behind and Gasan Reservoir and the vast Bubuk Plain stretching out in front, the scenery of the mountains behind and water in front is perfect for living. 7. You can wake up to the sound of roosters crowing and unknown birds chirping, making this the perfect accommodation for those seeking a peaceful and idyllic atmosphere. 7. Right near Soeun Gotaek (a 2-7 minute walk), there are numerous other Hanok cultural heritage sites, such as the Toero-ri Yi Clan House. Pavilions and ancestral halls like Seogojeongsa and Sameunjeong are well-maintained, filling the entire village with a clear and neat atmosphere. 8. Wiyangji Pond, a nationally famous tourist spot for photography, is located just a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk away.
