Host) Thank you for sending me detailed text messages with instructions and precautions. We were scheduled to arrive early in the morning, and my youngest had a cold due to the cold wave, so I asked you to turn on the boiler in advance. Thank you so much for lighting the fire in the yellow mud room. The host is really kind ~ ^^
Directions) I typed in the address as the host told me and went. Since I arrived early in the morning, I got lost on the navigation, and since it was my first time, it was dark and narrow, so I was nervous. It was on the left side of the farm road along the vinyl house, but there were many vinyl houses, so I didn't know which house to look at... It was late, so I couldn't contact the host, and I wandered back and forth on the railroad tracks several times, checked Naver View, and after going through many twists and turns, I found a bamboo fence next to a wooden fence. It's a parking lot that can fit just one Carnival, and when you come back, you have to turn off the narrow farm road, so be careful. We arrived early in the morning and it was hard to find, but I think you'll be able to find it if you come during the day. Special note) It reminded me of an old country house, so my family was very satisfied. It is a structure divided into two rooms based on the veranda. One room was remodeled with a new facility, so the boiler was really warm and there was no draft. The bathroom in the new room was warm without draft, so our family took a shower there. The living room and the red clay room were right next to the veranda in the new room, and the floor of the living room was heated by the new room boiler. The red clay room is a system that requires you to burn firewood yourself to heat the room, but once you light it, it stays hot for 4~5 hours. It was a fun experience for everyone from the oldest child to the youngest and the husband, saying that lighting the fire in the stove was emotional. They say it is healing to hear the crackling sound of the firewood. I saw a notice that if you put too much firewood, the lower part will burn and it will be too hot to sleep, so I warmed it up a little and laid down, and it felt refreshing as if I was in a sauna. However, the red clay room and the room with the living room have draft. In particular, the yellow clay room is warm on the back but the upper wind is strong, so the husband covered his head with a blanket on the first day and slept in the new room the next day. However, the two older children are the type that hate heat, so they said it was okay because their backs were warm and the upper wind was cool. There is another bathroom/toilet on this side, but it is connected to the outside of the swimming pool that is only used in the summer (of course, there is an external barrier), so the wind was so strong that we couldn't shower here. The kitchen facilities are located in a separate space, which also appealed to our family. We also used a pellet wood stove for the first time, and the smell was so warm that I was amazed. However, if you have a baby or a dog, you should keep them away from the wood stove and electric stove. (We prohibited our dog from entering the kitchen.) The wood stove is so hot that if you touch it, you can get burned, so be careful! The refrigerator was spacious, and all the cooking tools were provided, and looking at the seasonings prepared such as salt, pepper powder, and soy sauce, I thought the host had a good sense. I connected my phone to the Bluetooth speaker in the kitchen and had a meal while listening to Christmas carols, which was very emotional~^^ In addition, it snowed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so our family had a very special Christmas at Juwolgyeong.
Barbecue ) Move the cylindrical grill to the stone floor near the parking lot entrance (next to the red clay room) and bring firewood (free) from the yard behind the kitchen and light a fire, and you're ready. Since it's a cylindrical grill, not a grill, you have to put it in and take it out to the side when grilling meat, so we prepared a disposable griddle. There was one prepared in the kitchen, but we prepared two, thinking we would use them conveniently and throw them away, and used them well. Since we had to cook and take them out from the side, our hands got hot (make sure to wear thick gloves) and it was a little difficult to control the heat, but the taste of the meat grilled over an open fire that the husband worked hard to grill was superb. Yard) Stove fire, move firewood, carry embers, play in the yard, look at stars in the yard, barbecue, etc. Our family spent more time outside than in the room, so we didn't realize how much time had passed. We went there wearing thick padding because of the cold wave, but the thick padding was so uncomfortable to go back and forth from the house, so we went back and forth wearing only a t-shirt and caught a bad cold. I think it would be good to prepare a padded vest or thin padding to wear when going back and forth between the room<->kitchen<->yard. There were 2 electric bikes and 2 regular bikes, but it was so cold that we didn't think about riding them separately. Nearby tourist attractions) We made a reservation for a week, but due to circumstances, we only stayed for 3 nights and 4 days, so we spent more time in Juwolgyeong than going outside. Since there is a nearby Naro Space Center Space Science Museum, we went there even though it was over an hour away, so we didn't have to go there again. If you have children, stop by. The 3D movie was worth watching, and friends who are interested in space, science, and engineering would like it. In addition, it was even better because Mongdol Beach was right in front of the science museum, so I could enjoy the ocean view. Bibong Dinosaur Park was about 30 minutes away, and my 6-year-old youngest, who loves dinosaurs, really enjoyed it.
The atmosphere felt in a hanok house where only our family could stay was very different. The dog, who had only lived in an apartment, didn’t want to go inside the house all day when I opened the door and let him out in the yard in the morning. He followed the family around in the yard all day, played with the youngest and picked up firewood and branches, and when the evening came, he was shivering from the cold (I put a dog coat on him) and ran away from the room, refusing to go in... ... Even though we arrived early in the morning and were tired, our treasures stood in the yard and told us to look at the sky, saying that there were so many stars in the sky, and were amazed. The precious treasures happily learning from their father how to wake up in the morning, check if the embers are completely out in the ashes left in the clay stove, scoop out the ashes, carry firewood with both hands, put new firewood in the stove, and light the fire. Precious memories with our children who cleanly cleaned up the back fire together with their father, saying that they should be especially careful with fire because it is a Hanok. The husband approached me while I was preparing breakfast in the kitchen and said that he liked the accommodation. When I asked him if it was hard because he had to light the fire, carry the firewood, and clean up the ashes, and if it didn’t feel like he was working instead of resting, he said, “This place is really nice. This place is really nice. You chose a good accommodation. I like it even more because I can do that. I like experiencing things with the kids. It reminds me of my old days!” and gave the husband a thumbs up. And our treasures who clapped along with their father, saying that being able to stay in a quiet and secluded countryside was healing itself! Thanks to Juwolgyeong, our family had a very, very special vacation. If it weren't for the distance of over 4 hours, it would be a place I would visit often, but it is definitely a place I would like to visit again someday.
I am not the type to leave reviews often, but since it was a great trip for our family, I am leaving this to express my gratitude to the host and hope it will be helpful to someone.
