If you look at the homepage, at the bottom of the page where you made your payment, there is a note stating that "host prices may vary by country," and there are three items listed: security deposit, maintenance fee, and cleaning fee. Did you happen to see them? I initially received a text message like this. Since the contact information on the site was different, I thought it was a scam and contacted the landlord. I received another text saying they weren't asking for more money but were providing guidance. That's when things started to feel off. When I made the reservation, I booked for 6 adults and 2 children and paid accordingly. However, a woman claiming to be the manager demanded an additional 500,000 won—25,000 won per person per day—saying that Americans had stayed there before us and were charged extra there as well... When I confronted the landlord about the extra money, she gave a different story. She tried to frame us as being too suspicious. The site states that cleaning is not required, but she told us to pay a 50,000 won cleaning fee before leaving. She even said that if we weren't going to pay the 50,000 won, we had to do all the cleaning before we could leave. My flight arrived earlier than scheduled, so I moved in 3-4 hours early. The landlord asked for 10,000 won per hour, but the caretaker insisted on 15,000 won per hour... When I said I would pay the extra fee, they just told me to come on time. When I looked into why, it seemed like the landlord had already found out. Anyway, they were the worst hosts. They didn't answer when I asked about the Wi-Fi... And in the middle of the night, there was a loud whirring sound, as if the fire hose was broken. It was truly, truly the worst. The caretaker claims to be the landlord's mother and demands money that is completely unreasonable. Be careful. It is the absolute worst!
