It was created as a space where one can fully enjoy local life and engage in creative work. Space Concept: “Space for Inspiration” The spatial design concept of Hayan202 is an inspiring space. The name "Hayan," given as if by fate, evokes a sense of the extraordinary for those drawn by something unspoiled and pure white, creating a unique story for this place. We hoped this space, resembling a blank canvas, would become a place where one can fill it with something of their own through spatial structure, light, borrowed scenery, objects, and the activities taking place within. While designing Hayan Villa, our primary focus was on the characteristics of the existing building and the actions of the people staying there. The design process proceeded not by considering what style of space to create, but by contemplating the actions of the people staying here and the unique special qualities that only this space can offer. The passage of time from 1989 to the present, the spatial structure, the building's location, the windows facing south, west, and north, and the ever-changing sunlight and scenery depending on the time of day… As the interior expands through the exterior windows, it possesses a special sense of space that extends infinitely outward, despite not being large in size. By maximizing existing spatial characteristics and mixing in the activities of those who inhabit this space, the space gradually comes to completion. The space consists of an atelier, dining area, bedroom, jacuzzi, kitchen, and bathroom. We extended the wall connecting the living room and the master bedroom, and installed a 2-meter workbench in the center of the atelier to facilitate creative work. Instead of placing a sofa, we lowered the threshold of the south-facing balcony to create a deck area, providing a space for working or enjoying tea in a sun-filled setting. Additionally, we installed a stainless steel grid cabinet on one wall to display unique objects and inspiring books for enjoyment. The bedroom is located in the north-facing room, which receives the least amount of light in Hayanville. Instead of sleeping in a standard bed, we designed the space to offer a special sleep experience within a structure made of birch wood. Instead of a door, motorized blackout curtains were installed, allowing you to enjoy a cozy, light-blocked environment whether you are sleeping or watching TV. Additionally, a jacuzzi was created to utilize the north-facing spatial characteristics for a healing experience. By lowering the blinds, you can enjoy a private half-bath in complete solitude. The kitchen featured a stylish wooden ceiling installed over 30 years ago. To complement the old wooden ceiling, we installed lauan walls on two sides, while removing the wallpaper from the other two to expose the raw walls, creating a subtle contrast. To further enhance the contrast with the concrete, wood, and white walls, we crafted the sink from stainless steel. An induction cooktop was installed in the center of the window overlooking Mt. Halla to the north, allowing you to view the scenery while cooking, and a small window was placed in the sink bowl to enable viewing the outside while washing dishes. The bathroom at Hayanville is designed to be a special room rather than a functional restroom. The ceiling and door are finished with lauan plywood, while the walls and floor are finished in white microcement. Black accessories are positioned as decorative objects within the space. Additionally, ceiling bulbs add a warm tone to the overall atmosphere, completing the design. We hope this space becomes a place where those staying here can receive new stimulation and inspiration in an extraordinary environment that feels both familiar and unfamiliar.
