About this place

Jeju's old downtown begins at Gwandukjeong. Gwandukjeong is the Jeju equivalent of Gyeongbokgung Palace. Consequently, the original downtown area is overflowing with the atmosphere of an ancient city. While it is a tranquil neighborhood, atmospheric cafes and restaurants have steadily opened over the past few years, creating a vibrant atmosphere where both qualities coexist.

Surroundings & additional info

As this is Jeju's original downtown area, public transportation has been well-developed for a long time. There are buses that go directly to Hamdeok and Seongsan in the east, Aewol and Hallim in the west, and Seogwipo in the south. There are many cafes nearby where you can get your caffeine fix, such as Pal's, Light Coffee, Akupo, Neum Coffee Bar, and Cafe Seongji. The neighborhood is like a gourmet food court, with numerous restaurants like Goheung Restaurant, Ujin Haejangguk, Sanji Haejangguk, and Ingai. At Martro, a local Jeju supermarket, sales begin at 9 PM, making it the best place to buy affordable groceries. For those who prefer the stability of franchises, it is also convenient as there are Starbucks, McDonald's, and E-mart nearby.
