農協ハナロマート 대청마루에 앉아 지붕 위에 걸린 하얀 구름을 바라본다. 처마 곡선을 훑고 지나는 바람소리에 귀를 기울인다. 밤이면 창호에 은은하게 비치는 달빛에 마음을 적신다. 고택에는 아날로그 감성이 곳곳에 배어 있다. 편리함보다 정겨움으로, 지나온 세월만큼 넉넉한 인심으로 나그네를 품는다. 순천만에 바람이 분다. 갈대가 바람에 “샤라라락~” 소리를 내며 흔들린다. 지평선을 향해 달리던 태양은 갈대를 황금빛으로 치장한다. 갈대 사이에 몸을 감추고 있던 한 무리의 철새가 힘찬 날갯짓을 한다. 순천만국가정원과 순천동천을 사이에 두고 마주한 순천만 해룡성 고택에 가면 만날 수 있는 겨울 풍경이다. 고택의 역사를 이야기하려면 1675년으로 거슬러 올라가야 한다. 현재 고택을 운영하는 문창훈 씨의 14대조가 해남에서 순천의 전주 이씨 집안에 사위로 들어오면서 시작되었기 때문이다. 조부는 순천에 뿌리내려 살면서 갯벌 개척과 염전으로 부를 이뤄 순천만의 천석꾼이 되었다고 한다. 인심도 좋아서 고을을 찾는 나그네를 소홀히 대하는 법이 없었다. 이러한 인심은 후손에게 이어지며 집안 전통이 되었다. 지금도 주인장은 숙박객에게 아침식사로 녹두닭백숙을 내어준다. 고택이 지금의 모습으로 지어진 1776년 정조가 즉위한 해다. 7대조인 청계 문효광이 새로이 지은 이후 240여 년 동안 제 모습을 유지하고 있다. 오랜 세월을 품고 있으니 시간이 중첩되면서 만들어진 예스러움이 예사롭지 않다. 고택은 문효광의 호를 따 청계당(聽溪堂)이라 부르는 본채와 별채인 승지원(承志院), 그리고 다도 체험을 할 수 있는 건물로 이루어져 있다. 본채 객실에는 진달래, 모란, 동백, 매화라는 꽃 이름을 붙였다. 승지원은 옛날 과객에게 방을 내주었다던 사랑채다. 너른 마당 위로 쏟아지는 따스한 햇살에 졸고 있는 백구 두 마리와 하얀 이불 빨래를 널어둔 마당의 풍경이 꽤나 정겹다. 황토체험방은 추운 겨울 따뜻한 방에서 쉬어가라고 주인장이 직접 지었다. 사방의 벽을 황토로 바른 뜨끈뜨끈한 온돌방은 외풍이 없어 온기가 가득하다. 앙증맞은 크기의 동그란 창을 포함한 세 개의 창을 통해 전원 풍경을 감상할 수 있다.
