제주 구도심은 관덕정에서 시작합니다. 관덕정은 제주 경복궁 같은 곳입니다. 그래서 원도심은 오래된 도시의 정취가 넘칩니다. 고즈넉한 동네이지만 지난 몇 년 동안 분위기 좋은 카페와 식당이 꾸준히 생겨서 바이브런트한 느낌이 공존하는 동네입니다.

제주 원도심이라서 오래 전부터 대중교통이 잘 발달되어 있습니다. 동쪽인 함덕, 성산, 서쪽인 애월, 한림 남쪽인 서귀포 모두 한 번에 가는 버스가 있습니다. 주변에 팔즈, 라이트 커피, 아쿠포, 네음 커비바, 카페 성지 등 과다한 카페인을 수혈할 카페가 많습니다. 고흥 식당, 우진 해장국, 산지 해장국, 잉가이 같은 맛집이 많아서 동네가 고메 푸드코트입니다. 제주도 로컬 마트인 마트로는 저녁 9시 부터 세일에 들어가는데 가자 가성비 있는 식료품을 구매할 수 있습니다. 혹시 프랜차이즈의 안정감을 좋아하시는 분도 주변에 스타벅스, 맥도날드, 이마트가 있어서 편리합니다.
